ENGLISH The children completed the Unit-‘Christopher’s Bicycle’ with focus on reading, comprehension and story sequencing skills. They made colourful flash cards with details of the setting, scene and characters of the story. To foster the story writing skills children were first made to depict the beginning, middle and end of the story through flash cards and then later on were asked to write about the same . Children designed beautiful posters with a caption written by them on Holi. As part of the subject integration activity children made colourful word collages with splashes of colours all around and wrote various words associated with the festival on the collage. This helped the children to display their artistic skills and at the same time to enhance their vocabulary. The recapitulation of grammar concepts like ‘Punctuation Marks’ and ‘Adverb ’was done to reinforce the learning which has taken place in the previous months. EVS In the month of February, students developed an understanding of physical changes and lifestyle changes that occur owing to different seasons and the precautions to be taken during the changed weather conditions. They identified specific characteristics of the season. Students were made aware about the different types of festivals and classify them broadly into harvest, religious and national festivals. They learned the importance of festivals which brings families and friends together. Students’ pre-knowledge was tested regarding the various components of our universe using probing and engaging questions. This helped in engaging students into a class discussion which helped them to identify the difference between stars, planets and satellite. They learnt various basics like Hastak (hand movements), Tatkaar (footwork) and Guru Vandana. They also learnt Zumba dance basics. DRAMA Students learnt various forms of acting in drama classes, like mood, gesture, posture, facial expressions, laughter, anger and sadness by watching and listening to the story Phoota Ghadaa , Asli Maa. These videos helped them understand the character's body language and voice modulation. Post understanding of the story Mehnat Ka Phal, they did role play. POTTERY The students learnt a new sculpture technique called ‘Relief Work’, where the sculpted elements remain attached to a solid background of the same material. The sculpted material was raised above the background plane. The technique involved considerable chiseling away from the surface. The students made animal faces in 3D using relief sculpture. LIFE SKILLS Students discussed the time spent on gadgets like T.V, Mobile, Kindle, I-pad, Computer and gaming system in their daily routine and the severe problems associated with them. The facilitator talked about their response/behaviour when parents ask them to turn off the device. The facilitator also apprised them about worse moods, anxiety, higher levels of irritability and poor behaviour caused due to more screen time.

ENGLISH The children were taught the nuances of poetry with the help of the poem-‘A Dragon In The Classroom’. In sync with the theme of the month, ‘Seasons & Festivals’, the students learnt and discussed about how ‘Dragon Festivals’ are celebrated in different parts of the world and various customs and rituals associated with dragons in the countries across the globe. They researched about some interesting festivals like ‘Dragon Boat Festival’ & ‘Dragon Dress Festival’. They discussed about them and shared their knowledge with their peers. The children of Grade 2B conducted a special assembly glorifying the significance of the ‘REPUBLIC DAY’. As a next topic, the introduction to Time started with the Prior knowledge. They discussed with their peers and discussed what they know about time. They also saw different types of clock to tell time. Taking it forward from there, they learnt about the terms related to time and telling time through an online clock – Visnos clock. They had fun time rolling the dice and asking their peers the time questions related to telling time. EVS Concluding the theme of the previous month Air and Water, students were sensitized towards the environment and how we can save it from degradation and pollution. Students were introduced to the topic – Pollution, its meaning and types. Relating it to the holidays that were declared in the month of November, because of pollution and why the students were not allowed outdoor games for few days. Students enhanced their knowledge about the cause and effect of pollution and measures to prevent them. Students’ prior knowledge was assessed regarding weather, climate and seasons through probing and engaging questions This helped in involving students in a class discussion which helped them identify the difference between weather and climate. They also understood the origin of moon craters and found from where does the light of the moon comes. Children went for a nature walk to spot the different kinds of trees in the campus. They discussed about evergreen and deciduous trees which were also the part of the unit. The collaborative activity ‘My Woodland Encyclopedia’ not only enabled them to understand how words are organised in the dictionary, how meanings are written in a dictionary, but also gave wings to their imagination as they made beautiful pictures inside the encyclopedia to make it more comprehensive. They thoroughly enjoyed this activity learning and having fun at the same time. This month students started their inquiry into measurement. As part of the inquiry based learning, students tuned into the Measurement topic by a hands on activity. There were instruments related to measurement kept in class for this purpose. Students were divided into groups and they had to identify the purpose of a particular instrument and usage. They had a fun time measuring objects using physical balance, surprised to find the weight of their identity card on a spring balance, measuring jar etc. In the next activity students were given few objects like dal, pulses, face cream, liquid soap, fruits, powder etc. They had to categorize it correctly as per their measurement criteria, which the students were able to do it accurately. They started with learning measuring length, how to draw a straight line using a ruler to the correct measure, addition and subtraction of length. EVS Previous knowledge of students was aroused by asking queries that helped them correlate with the topic communication. For e.g. How do you communicate with your cousins living in another city? Do you know what all we can do using a mobile phone etc? This helped in engaging students in a class discussion to identify the different means of communication. A video helped students understand the evolution of communication i.e. using pigeons to communicate to the present era i.e. using the internet. Students enhanced their knowledge by making a collage on different means of communication. They also learnt to differentiate between personal and mass communication and slow vs fast means of communication. A series of experiments were conducted in the class to make the students familiar with the basic properties of air and water. Students also learnt about the 3 forms of water and how are they interchangeable. They also learnt about the watercycle and different processes included in it .i.e. evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection. POTTERY Clay captivates a child’s interest for hours, and it has a calming effect. The students made clay birds, plants, flowers with leaves, Christmas tree, Santa face and Santa cap. There is no better moment than witnessing their joy as they sit at the potter’s wheel, place their wet hands on slowly spinning clay. For more understanding about rhythm, they learnt about teen taal as all Kathak basics are on teen taal. DRAMA Students learnt various forms of acting like mood, gesture, posture, facial expressions, laughter, anger and sadness with the help of stories and their characters such as God’s Blessings, The Poet and the Rich man, ‘The Birbal and the Elephant’. LIFE SKILLS Learning about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, staying independent and organised, the students compiled the key skills as a poster ‘7 Habits of Happy Kids.’ They expressed their thoughts and ideas required to be followed in order to lead a healthy and hearty life. ICT The students learnt how to use various magic effects – fill effect, brick effect, blur effect, grass effect, mirror magic effect, stamp tool, etc. They made a scenery using these effects and tools in Tux Paint. ROBOTICS UNIT TOPIC: UNIVERSE AROUND US Activity 1: Day and Night In this session, students had differentiated between the activity we do in day and night time. They also studied that the earth rotates on its axis which is responsible for the formation of day and night. They understood and implemented the repeating pattern of day and night by creating a visual representation through a model. Activity 2: Constellation In this session, students explored the stars in the sky and the pattern they form when group together. They also studied different constellations and their use by designing a constellation luminary to observe different constellations which we see in the sky during the night time. SNEAK PEEK INTO DECEMBER ACTIVITIES ENGLISH Students completed Unit-‘The Chatterbox Turtle’ with focus on reading, comprehension, glossary, new vocabulary and writing skills. They understood the fraction terms – numerator and denominator. Students learnt to tell the fraction through a diagrammatic representation. They continue to strengthen their Mathematical and Logical thinking skill using the SEP edu module in the classroom. EVS As part of the topic ‘ Community’, students learnt about their neighbourhood landmarks like police station, church, temple, stationery shop, mall, fire station, post office, florist, restaurant, mosque, market, gurudwara, bus stop etc. They also understood about the community helpers and the role of people who work in the school. They were updated about the newly created union territories i.e. J&K and Ladakh under the theme ‘My India’. Students learnt about the evolution of wheel used in the ancient times with those of the modern times. They were able to differentiate between the slow and fast moving transport. Students also learnt about the various means of transport i.e. land, air and water transport. The traffic signals and road safety signs were covered under the road safety topic. While studying air transport students also learnt about the important documents like passport needed to travel to another country. They also created a dummy passport with all the important information. ICT Students learnt to identify the Tux Paint logo and open the application. To support the better understanding and learning students watched a video. The Class discussion was held on what students understand by the word respect. How do they observe it globally? This facilitated them to treat others the way they want others to treat them. Students illustrated on the individual sheet what makes them responsible. ROBOTICS UNIT TOPIC: ANIMAL WORLD Activity 4: Fluttering Butterfly Students explored how different animals have different types of movement and physical features which are responsible for their movement. They designed a model of a Butterfly to see the fluttering movement. They verified that when the surface is pushed down against air it gets lifted up. Activity 5: Maker session(Know me more- Day 1) Students recalled all the previous sessions and were introduced to the problem statement. They had to select any one land animal and mention all the features learnt in the animal world. They built a habitat for that animal. After that, they designed a 2D sketch of that habitat in the worksheet. A sneak peek into the Grade 2 Parent walk-in .. They created a fiction ‘My Magical Bicycle’ with the help of Spin-A-Yarn activity. The students were taught to how to look for meaning using a ‘dictionary’ and made vocabulary cards to enrich their vocabulary. They made a picture collage on ‘My City’ and further consolidated their learning in the form of a paragraph writing on the same topic. They also learnt multiplication tables from 1 to 10 and wrote them in their notebook. They got comfortable while solving simple multiplication sums without number carry over and attempted word problems as well. They were introduced to the Division concept as equal grouping / equal sharing / equal distribution and repeated subtraction. They learnt the key terms to differentiate between subtraction / division. EVS Students learnt about the importance of having shelter and living together through an engaging story ‘Three little pigs’. Through a video they understood the difference amongst houses found indifferent climatic conditions. Taking a pragmatic approach to the topic being taught, students visited a construction site (within the school campus) to see the people involved and the material, tools and machinery used in the construction process. To provide them an opportunity to share their understanding and imagination they were asked to draw a dream house through an activity ‘My Dream House’ Highlighting the importance of cleanliness, different aspects related to appropriate garbage disposal techniques was discussed in class. Students learned about segregating the garbage and importance of the same. The 3Rs were explained using various examples so that students understand the difference between reusing, reducing and recycling of products and the benefits associated with them. ICT The students continued their learning on MS-Paint where they understood about calligraphy and different types of brush tools. They explored how to skew or resize an image, save their file and how to open an existing file. They also undertook a quiz to complete the book exercises in class. ROBOTICS UNIT TOPIC: ANIMAL WORLD Activity 3: STAMPING FOOTPRINTS In this session, students studied animal footprints and what all can be known from their footprint. They can now identify the animal by looking at its footprint and can differentiate between the type of footprint of animals and birds. Students designed animal footprints by modelling clay and used a stamp pad to make the print of those footprints on a sheet of paper. This month students’ creativity skills were enhanced. They were provided with certain shapes and had to imagine and Think Out Of The Box. Students completed Unit ‘Bridges’ with focus on reading, comprehension, glossary, new vocabulary and writing skills. They also learnt ‘ Index writing’- its format and examples. The topic ‘Contractions’ was introduced in grammar. The class collaboratively generated a list of Contractions and explored some new ones too. The children composed a song using various ‘Onomatopoeic Words’. They were also given a group task where they made beautiful posters using Onomatopoeic words listed by their group. Hindi छात्रों को विद्यालय व उद्यान भ्रमण द्वारा अपने आसपास देखी जाने वाली चीज़ों को सूचीबद्ध करते हुए क्रिया का परिचय दिया गया | छात्रों को क्रिया का अभ्यास-कार्य करवाया गया | छात्रों को पाठ- “रसभरे फल और ताज़ी-ताज़ी सब्जियाँ” का पठन करवाया गया और उनको पौष्टिक भोजन खाने के लिए प्रेरित किया गया | छात्रों को पाठ के कठिन शब्द, शब्दार्थ, प्रश्नोत्तर, वाक्य-प्रयोग व रचनात्मक लेखन करवाया गया ताकि उनका बहुमुखी विकास हो सकें | गतिविधि में छात्रों ने समूह में पौष्टिक भोजन के ऊपर एक किताब बनाई जिसमें छात्रों ने पौष्टिक और जंक भोजन के चित्रों से समुच्चय चित्रकला का निर्माण किया, पौष्टिक भोजन के फ़ायदे और जंक भोजन के नुकसान के बारे में लिखकर, अपनी कुशाग्रता का परिचय दिया | छात्रों को “पर्चियों के खेल” से विलोम शब्द का परिचय दिया गया व विलोम का अभ्यास कार्य करवाया गया | इस माह छात्रों के लिए “ज्ञान मंजरी” नामक एक पठन कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें सभी बच्चों ने बढ-चढ़ कर भाग लिया और इससे एक “उत्सुक पाठक” चुना गया | इस कार्यक्रम में प्रतिदिन भेजी जाने वाली कहानियों के माध्यम से छात्रों के पठन कौशल का विकास हुआ | इन कहानियों से प्रतिदिन छात्रों ने नए शब्दों को जाना और एक नए शब्दकोष की रचना की |सब बच्चों ने इस कार्यक्रम में उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया Mathematics Students attempted an assessment of Addition & Subtraction. They learnt about multiplication through a class activity to understand the concept of Multiplication as Repeated Addition. They used the class resources to learn this concept. The reiteration of this concept was done by practice sums in their notebooks. They also studied about the patterns in numbers, multiplication tables and mental math terms. Students also enjoyed building on their logical and analytical skills by working on the SEP module. EVS In culminating the theme of the previous month – Plants, students displayed their learning about plants and all the products we get from plants through a class activity- Organic Bazaar. Students started their learning journey about ‘Food’ in the month of September. In a circle time, an analogy was drawn between a car and the human body and how petrol/diesel is important to ensure the car runs efficiently, similarly food is indispensable for our body to function efficiently. Students were made to be aware of benefits of food and the importance of balanced diet. A video highlighting healthy food vs Junk food was shown to students. The five food groups were introduced. To enhance their learning on the same, students were divided into 5 groups and each group researched to find out information about one food group and presented their work as a collage. They shared their work with their peers in class. Students understood the difference between raw food and cooked food through examples and also the benefits of cooked food. They also learnt about the various sources of food i.e. plant products and animal products (poultry and dairy products). ICT The students learnt about MS-Paint software. They performed an activity to differentiate between the MS-Paint, painting using tools and painting manually. They used the basic tools of the MS-Paint to make a birthday greeting for their mothers. Towards the end of this, they learnt how to save their in the software. Robotics UNIT TOPIC: ANIMAL WORLD Activity 1 : - Model teeth Students have learnt about animal and categorized them into different categories based on their food habits in their Science lesson. In conjunction to what they have learnt, students made a model of a pair of incisors and pair of canines similar to that of animals and tested it to see which teeth is used for cutting, biting, tearing and gripping. Activity 2: Build-a-Barn Students explored about basic needs of living things for survival, they also studied about habitats and examples of habitat according to different type of animals. They explored about man-made habitat build by humans for animals by building a BARN using straw-it kit. Performing Arts - Indian Music In the month of September students learnt .. Name of the song : Prayer song “ Tu hi data”. Instruments played : Combination of Harmonium, Tabla, Tanpura , Markas, Swartarang. Exercises done : Vocal warm up with sargam in different scales. Performing Arts - Dance Students learnt basics of Kathak dance form. They learnt how to emote different gestures, posture, mood through body language and facial expressions. They also learnt tatkaar (basic footwork), Hastak (basic hand-movements ) of kathak. Apart from that they have learnt the choreography on Guru vanadana “ Gurur brahma, gurur Vishnu, gurur devo maheshwara, gurur saakshaat parabrahma, tasmai shri guruve namah” Performing Arts - Drama Students learnt about making different sounds, moment, appearance, body moments and voice modulation as per the character. They also played games to in their drama lessons to imitate animals by changing their voice. Students are slowly gaining confidence to act and emote different characters. Physical Education - Sports CO-ORDINATION, SWIMMING AND GYMNASTICS 1) Students did exercises related to co-ordination. 2) Marching drills (On the spot mark time mark). 3) Callisthenic exercises in group with music. 4) Swimming – Students are learning breathing, floating and kicking. 5) Gymnastics - rolling forward and backward, handstand followed by forward roll and swinging on the horizontal bar. Life Skills
Students were assessed on their coping skills associated with safety in different situations. This was done in a worksheet post discussion. The worksheet shared with the students helped them to develop understanding of the safe and unsafe measures. This helped them make informed decision on the right decision to protect themselves. ENGLISH The children of Grade 2 A conducted the special assembly on the theme ‘RAINY SEASON’. The young children look super excited & confident as they gave a spectacular performance which comprised of song ,dance, recitation & amazing facts on Rain. The Lesson-‘Baby Reptiles’ helped the children in identifying specific information in a text through a flow diagram & a cyclic diagram. The children were given group project where they used the information provided to them to make the ‘Life Cycle of a Frog’. The concept of ‘Homophones’ &’Degrees of Comparison’ were introduced in grammar. The ‘Show and Tell’ activity saw the integration of English and EVS as the children spoke a few lines on ‘Indoor Plants’. The presentation on the English song ‘I have a Dream’ won a lot of accolades as the children of both the sections sang & performed in the culminating assembly of the Language, Performing Arts & EVS Integration Week -19th-23rd August. हिंदी छात्रों को अखबार के (नकली फ़ोन) दूरभाष द्वारा सर्वनाम का परिचय दिया गया जिसमें दो छात्रों ने आपस में बात की जिससे उन्हें ज्ञात हुआ कि कैसे संज्ञा (नाम) के स्थान पर हम सर्वनाम शब्दों का प्रयोग करते हैं | छात्रों को सर्वनाम का अभ्यास-कार्य करवाया गया | छात्रों ने विद्यालय भ्रमण द्वारा अपने आसपास देखी जाने वाली चीज़ों और सीढ़ियों को गिनते हुए अपनी अभ्यास-पुस्तिका में सूचीबद्ध किया, इस तरह उन्हें गिनती (१-२० तक) का परिचय दिया गया | छात्रों को हिंदी अंकों और शब्दों में गिनती का ज्ञान दिया गया , उन्हें “बिंगों” खेल खिलाया गया, अपने माता-पिता का दूरभाष हिन्दी अंकों में लिखवाया गया | छात्रों को पाठ-“राखी का त्योहार” का पठन कार्य करवाया गया | छात्रों ने कक्षा में बहुत सुंदर अभिनय और रचनात्मक लेखन द्वारा दर्शाया कि “उन्होंने राखी का त्योहार कैसे मनाया”, इससे उनके लेखन व रचनात्मक कौशल का विकास हुआ | उन्हें पाठ –“कृष्ण-सुदामा” के पठन और विडियो द्वारा सच्ची मित्रता के बारे में बताया गया | छात्रों को पाठ के कठिन शब्द, शब्दार्थ, प्रश्नोत्तर व वाक्य-प्रयोग करवाया गया ताकि उनका बहुमुखी विकास हो सकें | छात्रों ने “विषय एकीकरण भाषा सप्ताह” में हास्य कविता द्वारा अपनी छुपी हुई अदभुत प्रतिभा का प्रदर्शन किया | MATH Students were assessed on their prior knowledge of addition through a class quiz. This was followed by practicing addition sums (with and without carry-over). They also understood how to identify addition sums by using the key words given in the story sum. While attempting the word problems, they learnt to use the RUSC method (READ the question – UNDERLINE the key words – SOLVE the sum – CHECK the answer) as a practice. They were also introduced to Subtraction concept (with and without borrowing). Students challenged themselves while attempting subtraction sums with borrowing. While solving word problems, they learnt to identify whether it was an addition or subtraction sum using the key words given in the question. As a way to enhance their logical – mathematical skills, they also attempted to solve puzzles using SEP module. EVS In the EVS lesson, the ‘Animal’ theme was integrated with various topics and students were acquainted with the names of various animals, their young ones and their shelters. They also understood the relationship between the body structure of animals and their habitats. A song sung in class by students about ‘Animal homes’ helped the students learn and understand the topic. The students also learnt how to classify animals on the basis of their food habits – Carnivores, Herbivores & Omnivores. Students understood about the endangered and extinct animals. They also learnt and appreciated the usefulness of animals in our life. They went out for a nature walk where they learnt about the different parts of plants which led to an understanding of the functions of each part of the plant in class. To know more about the Plants, students learnt about the life cycle of a plant and its requirements. During the Language, SST and Performing arts integration week -19th - 23rd August, in sync with the theme of the month “Plants”, students of Grade 2 presented a show and tell activity integrated with English on ‘Indoor Plants’. INDIAN MUSIC Students of Grade 2, in their Indian Music lessons, practiced the patriotic song 'Sare Jahan Se Acha’ . They also sung the song 'Teri hai zami’ in the special assembly during the Subject integration week. Regular sargam, vocal warm up exercises, rhythm clapping in different patterns are all helping the students to improve their singing abilities. WESTERN MUSIC In the month of August the students learnt the song: ‘’I have a dream” sung by West life band . Instruments taught were the Piano and the Congo Balloon breathing exercise were done to help improve their voice quality . PE Children continued to work on their gross motor skills of static and dynamic balance by adding into it the element of coordination. In the process different implements were used to which would challenge them to develop a good kinaesthetic sense and a better sense of how to control their body also improve their eye hand coordination. They also continued their Swimming, Gymnastics, Taekwondo and Skating classes where they got to know about skills such as bubbling under the water, kicking in freestyle, front float and Forward roll, Stretching and leg opening, turns and jumps and kicking and self defense techniques respectively. DRAMA Students of Grade 2 learnt various forms of acting in the Drama lessons. They learnt how to modulate their voice as per the character they were playing and showcased their acting prowess during role plays done in class. In sync with the theme of the month ‘Plants’, they listened to various stories related to plants and trees and understood the importance of characters in the fables . During the Subject integration week, the students of Grade 2 performed an act related to “Raksha Bandhan”. The students displayed their acting abilities, complete with voice modulation and expression and impressed everyone with their acting skills. ART AND POTTERY Students of Grade 2, in sync with the theme for the month ‘Plants’, learnt how to draw the National Symbol ‘Lotus’ and a mango grove. In addition to drawing the flower, they included in the whole composition, the background pond, mango trees in the surrounding area and coloured it appropriately. Students used oil pastels to make their composition beautiful and wrote a slogan praising our country. Students learnt about the national symbols of our country and made clay models of a national flower –The Lotus. The students also made clay pen stands for all teachers to be gifted on Teacher’s Day. LIFE SKILLS In their Life Skill lessons, students strengthened their ability to demarcate and protect their personal space. Students attempted a worksheet which helped them understand that they are the owners of their own. They observed through an illustrated example of how even animals protect themselves and stay safe and shared examples of how they can be safe. The session concluded by them understanding that it is OK to say NO, when in trouble they shout NO loudly-GO AWAY from that person/place- TELL Someone trusted. ICT The students learnt about the keyboard in detail. They learnt about the different types of keys on a keyboard – caps lock, delete, backspace, enter, arrow keys, functions keys, etc. They applied their understanding of these keys to type a paragraph in the word pad. They also learnt about the combination keys – shift, alt, ctrl and used this to type Math combinations from Tux Math lessons. ROBOTICS Challenge : In this session, students were introduced with a problem statement with the help of some videos and images to find out a possible solution to design and build a Swim Jacket which would save them from drowning The main focus of maker session is to see what students can actually think of building after learning the basic concepts about types of material and its use. English The month of July started with the launch of ‘Fables Festival’ - A Reading Fiesta to inculcate the habit of reading among the children. This Reading Program saw students enjoy reading and went a long way in getting them to develop the confidence to write a story report on their own. The month also witnessed the Spell Bee Finale wherein the children participated with great zeal & enthusiasm. As a part of the educational field trip, the students went for ‘The Lion King’ a movie completely in sync with the month’s theme ‘Animals’, post which they wrote their reflection as creatively drew their favourite scene from the movie. 'My Adjective'introduction, Rumble in the Jungle and English Café were some of the activities done in class to reinforce their learning of Adjectives. They made beautiful Menu cards and wracked their brains to write the most suitable & apt adjective for their selected items on the food list. Little Red Riding Hood was the talk of town as they made a collage on all the character’s in the story. They also wrote a character sketch, identified the setting of the story, and wrote a few dialogues. Students were also assigned a group project where the two groups presented a ‘One Act Play’ on the story Little Red Riding Hood. Our scholars of Grade 2 gave wings to their imagination when they designed the Book Cover for a group activity which was the next topic for the month. Books like ‘Game In the Darkness ‘, ‘Oh! Where is Mr. Brown?’, Math-o-Mania with ‘Mr. Virat’ had their book covers designed by our talented students. They were divided in groups and were given the Diene blocks. As the facilitator called out a number, students collaborated and formed the number. The groups competed against each other and raced to form numbers. This strengthened their understanding of the place value of numbers. Post this activity, they were introduced to addition of 3-digit numbers. They learnt to add the numbers with and without carryover. Once the students were confident of adding numbers, they tried to solve the word problems. They followed the RUSAC (READ – UNDERSTAND – CHOOSE-SOLVE – ANSWER-CHECK) method to solve the word problems. Environmental Science In EVS lessons, students understood the need and importance of sharing and caring within the family and how to celebrate special occasions with them. They were also introduced to the topic ‘Early Man’, his evolution from early to modern man, knowledge about food, clothing and shelter used during the times of early man. In sync with the theme of the month, 'Animals', students learnt to recognize, compare and distinguish between sounds of various animals and their categories. As a group activity, students brought pictures of different categories of animals (wild, domestic, aquatic, land, aerial) to create collage and in turn learnt more about animals from their peers. Art and Pottery Children made paper tigers in their Art lessons. They were given cut-outs of the body parts of a tiger which they strategically assembled and used crayons for colouring. In the Pottery lessons, students learnt to make an elephant head with trunk, attaching ear and eyes to complete their elephant head model. Indian Music Students practiced vocal warm ups and started singing सरगम with rhythm and rhythm clapping activity in different patterns. From this they understood the different aspects of rhythm. Students started a new song about the majestic Tiger “ राष्ट्रिय पशु मैं भारत का “. Western Music Children learnt a beautiful song “Praise him” with full guitar pattern and also performed individually in front of their peers with complete expression. They also learnt breathing exercises which are very helpful while singing. PHYSICAL EDUCATION Students started to work on their gross motor skills of static and dynamic balance. In the process, different equipment's were use to challenge them to develop a good kin-aesthetic sense and a better sense of how to control their body and also improve their eye hand coordination. Tae-kwondo classes were held and basic stances of the martial are were reinforced. ICT Students were taken to school garden to understand the Input Process Output cycle. They were given a demo of printing a soft copy so that they could understand input process and output and the devices used for the same. The storage devices pen drive, CD, DVD, etc. were also displayed to make them understand the features and their usage. Drama Students learnt about body moments and voice modulation as per the character being played. Animals being the theme for the month of July, student’s enjoyed stories related to the theme and understood the importance of different characters in the story and also learnt how to a play a character in an act. Life Skills In their Life Skill lessons, students gained confidence by understanding about their safe circle. They were taught how they could help themselves and be safe without getting anxious and afraid. They made a personal illustrative chart “People I Can Go To” with their picture on it and wrote the names of the people they would go to for help. The safe people could be family member or non family members. Students are quite adventurous and sometimes get into avoidable situations. To avoid getting hurt students learnt how they could protect themselves and be harmless on the playground by observing hazardous things around them. These skills would help students be careful and observant and avoid mishaps and accidents. After all, playtime is all about exploring, learning and enjoying without getting hurt. Robotics
UNIT TOPIC: ALL ABOUT MATERIAL In this unit students explored different types of material like plastic, wood, metal, glass and fibre etc and their properties by building different things using straws and understanding the properties of each material. They also learnt about different fabrics ,their properties , textile weaving and went on to make their own wrist bands. ENGLISH Students were introduced to kinds of nouns with the help of a Noun Tree. They also enhanced their understanding of nouns by playing a name, place, animal, thing game with their peers. This also made the concept of common and Proper nouns clear to them. Students learnt and wrote an acrostic Poem on MOTHER, and pasted their mother's picture in their notebooks. They enhanced their writing skill by writing an acrostic poem of their names. The first Spell Bee Wizard competition was held and students enthusiastically competed with each other for the top position. Selected students attempted Round 2 and few students cleared that will go on to compete in the final round that will be held in July once the students are back after the Summer break. They understood the story elements through "Story Mapping" of lesson 2 & 3. Students had a wonderful time full of fun and frolic in the Class Party organized on the last working day just before the Summer break. HINDI छात्रों को पाठ- “विनी ने लिखी नानी को चिठ्ठी” पाठ करवाया गया | गतिविधि में छात्रों ने नानी का चित्र चिपकाकर नानी के बारे में कुछ पंक्तियाँ लिखी | छात्रों का रचनात्मक विकास हुआ | छात्रों को पाठ पढ़वाया गया जिससे छात्रों के पठन कौशल का विकास हुआ | छात्रों को पाठ के कठिन शब्द, शब्दार्थ, प्रश्नोत्तर, वाक्य-प्रयोग व रचनात्मक लेखन-कार्य करवाया गया ताकि उनका बहुमुखी विकास हो सकें | छात्रों का पाठ “मम्मी तुम कितनी अच्छी हो” के कठिन शब्दों का श्रुतलेख लिया गया ताकि बच्चों का पुनः अभ्यास हो सकें MATH Students learnt the difference between 2D and 3D shapes by understanding the attributes of the dimensions of the shapes. Using shape blocks they learnt to identify the shape using their attributes - faces, edges and vertices. The children used their visualization skills to identify different 2D and 3D shapes in their classroom and their surroundings. As an add on activity, students were given solid shapes in a mystery bag and they had fun guessing the shape by just touching a shape in the bag without seeing it. They learnt about Number bonds with the help of blocks and objects in the classroom to understand the concept of whole number and its part. They also made different number bonds in their notebooks by drawing one big circle as the whole part and two smaller circles as its parts. Environment Education(EVS) In their EVS lessons, in continuation to their prior knowledge of ‘Sense Organs’ students were made to understand about different sense organs and their functions through class activities. Some activities like distinguishing the sounds through careful hearing, recorded music was played in the class for students to identify the sound. Through this activity they learnt about 'Ears' and their functions. To strengthen their understanding of sense organs students were given homework to match the sense organs with their functions. Students also covered Growth of Humans topic from the book. Students prior knowledge on the "Growth of Humans" was done during circle time by sharing information about family structures. They had to share about their family and family members. This helped them understand the terms Nuclear & Joint Family. Differences between Nuclear and Joint Family were also understood along with the difference between paternal and maternal side of the family. Students made a family tree in the class that helped them gain more clarity on the topic. VISUAL ART Students made paper crowns for their mothers on the eve of Mother's day. They used coloured paper to draw and cut the paper according to the shape of a crown and did craft work by cutting and pasting shape of hearts and completed the crown by writing a message for their loving mothers. INDIAN MUSIC Students learnt the basics of Indian Music and practiced singing सरगम with rhythm and rhythm clapping activity in एकगुन , दुगुन . From this activity they understood the different aspects of rhythm in तीन ताल . Students practiced the song ,’रंग बिरंगी धरती'. WESTERN MUSIC Children learnt "A Gift to You "song with full guitar pattern and also performed individually in front of their peers with musical expression and time signature which help them to sing with proper beats. PHYSICAL EDUCATION Children continued to work on their gross motor skills of throwing and catching the ball with the correct timing. In the process, different implements were used which would challenge them to develop a good kinesthetic sense and also improve their eye hand coordination. Kids were also made to play recreational games and cooperative games to help them improve their social skills. LIFE SKILLS In the first week of the month students collated the traits and acts accepted by a good friend. They learnt positive friendship traits and "built" a friend that they would like to have. It helped students develop social skills in the area of making friends and keeping friendship. Session helped students to have healthy relations with their peers and over a period of time will also help them to learn to adjust. In second week of the month students learnt how they can become responsible. Students understood that there are certain doings that makes that make them responsible children and there are certain values which are acceptable by others socially. Class together collated the responsible actions on a chart sheet. DRAMA Students understood the different moods and shades of characters through one act play. They also understood the importance of body language along with the correct techniques. They then applied their understanding and used them while enacting in the class. ICT A class room discussion was done regarding the uses of computer. Students enthusiastically shared their answers. The flash cards were shown to them to let them identify the places where the computers are used and what they are used for. Students were taken on a school round to help them know where all the computers are used in school and what are they used for. DANCE
Students were asked to create their own movements to express the meaning of their names. All of them came up with their individual expressions to potray the essence of their names. It was an activity based learning to enhance their creative thinking. |
